About the City
The Mission
City of Laughs started with a simple idea: the comics you watch on Netflix, HBO, Comedy Central and Kill Tony shouldn't only play the big clubs. So we built something else — an ensemble show, not a single headliner. A rotating cast of established stars and rising voices, each with a short, sharp set, plus room for surprise drop-ins so no two nights are the same.
We anchor the tour at City Winery rooms — Nashville, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago — because a room with a real kitchen and a serious wine list makes for a better night out. Think dinner and a show, done properly: upscale enough for a good date, intimate enough that you can hear every punchline.
Meet the Host: J. McNutt
J. McNutt created City of Laughs and hosts it every night — the steady hand on the mic, warming up rooms, wrangling the lineup, and roasting the front row just enough. (Full bio coming soon.)
Year 1
One mic, one room, one very nervous host. Sold out anyway.
Year 2
City Winery says yes. Nashville becomes home base.
Year 3
New York, Atlanta, Boston and Chicago join the party.
Year 4
200+ shows, 150+ comics, and still no filler.
